about
"Thurston" was conceived on an early September afternoon in 2020, pandemic leering and sun beaming. Ash started playing a G chord, Tom ripped into the opening solo, Mads jammed on her cajon, and Alex plucked at an acoustic bass. It was the height of our silly madness, a soon-to-be, forever-sung, faux-anthem for Thurston Moore. It has evolved, since, with a beautiful violin solo that'll haunt even the most Sonic Youth-averse of us. It's the anti-hero's anthem, and the unintending victim's response. It's own sort of love song. But will we ever be able to answer for the sins of the weak-hearted? I will not. I will not.
lyrics
Another late night falling asleep
Double tree starch cotton sheets
100 miles or so down
Baby’s crying don’t hear no sound
A map of inexperience
Houston street and the start of us
Empty bottles too drunk to see
Down on the street, another you and me
breaking up? I’m breaking out
From the cell of endless okays
Grab the string that pulls me astray
Hold the tour, spread the letters on our kitchen floor
It’s only for her
The words are inscribed
Straight to the heart
Lust always outruns death do us part
Outsmart your own family
Well I’ve stopped counting
Breaking up? Im breaking out
From the pyre of selfless love
its burned enough to give you up
I will not answer
I will not answer
For this
